Meet our founder-director

Anjali Khanna. A teacher first. A founder by accident.

Anjali spent her first eight years teaching at The Mother's International (Sri Aurobindo Ashram, New Delhi) and Riverside School (Ahmedabad). When her daughter Aarya turned two, she set out to find a Noida pre-school that combined Montessori sensorial work with Reggio-Emilia atelier-style art and Indian-rooted storytelling. She did not find one. So in 2020 she opened Little Steps' first branch — a 1,800-sqft villa in Sector 50 — with 14 children and 3 teachers.

Today, Little Steps has three NCR branches with 280+ children. Anjali still teaches the Wednesday + Friday Pre-KG circle-time across all three locations because "a director who has not held a 4-year-old's hand in a week is not running a pre-school."

🛡

Safe environment

Trained staff (NCR vetted), 1:8 child-teacher ratio in Playgroup + Nursery, 1:12 in Pre-KG + Senior KG. CCTV in every room + parent live-feed via the Little Steps app. Background-checked drivers and ayahs.

🤲

Nurturing care

Every child has a primary caregiver assigned for the first 4 weeks of settling-in. Crying-on-arrival is normal — we walk through it with patience, not pressure. Hourly nappy + hydration check-ins for under-3.

🎨

Play-based learning

Loose-parts play, sand-and-water tables, sensorial trays, dramatic-play corners — your child does not sit at a desk before Pre-KG. Numeracy + literacy emerge from the play, not from worksheets.

🌱

Curriculum · 6 streams · play-based

Worksheets are not learning.

We do not believe in giving 3-year-olds homework. We believe in giving them a 4-hour day of intentional, scaffolded play across six developmental streams — and trusting that numeracy, literacy, social skill, and curiosity emerge naturally from that play.

Term-end you receive a 5-domain progress report (gross motor, fine motor, language, cognitive, social-emotional) — written by your child's primary teacher, not a template. We also do a one-on-one parent meeting every term so you understand what to encourage at home.

Pre-numeracy + Montessori math

A day in the life · Pre-KG

What does a Tuesday actually look like?

Most parent enquiries are about routine — naps, meals, screen-time, washroom support. Here is the real Tuesday for a 3.5-year-old in Pre-KG. Our days are structured but unhurried. Transitions are signposted with a song, not a bell.

  1. 8:30 AM
    Welcome + free-flow choice

Children arrive, hang their bags, settle into a chosen activity corner — books, blocks, sensory bin, art.

  2. 9:00 AM
    Circle time + good-morning

Hindi + English greeting song, weather chart, calendar, today's story. Group breath + quick stretch.

  3. 9:30 AM
    Work cycle (Montessori-style)

Children choose from sensorial trays, practical-life work, language and numeracy materials. Teacher observes + presents.

  4. 10:30 AM
    Snack + outdoor play

Pure-veg snack (homemade, rotated weekly), then 30-min outdoor — slide, sand, garden, water-table, monkey bars.

  5. 11:15 AM
    Atelier + project

Clay, watercolour, charcoal, collage. Open-ended — no model to copy. Teacher photographs, prints, displays in the parent app.

  6. 12:00 PM
    Lunch + rest

Pure-veg lunch (dal-rice-sabzi rotation, tiffin from home for picky eaters allowed). Quiet rest with story.

  7. 12:30 PM
    Yoga + movement

Age-appropriate yoga — vrikshasana, balasana, surya namaskar. Or parachute + obstacle-course depending on day.

  8. 1:00 PM
    Story + dismissal

Single shared story, song, namaste. Children collected by parents or moved to day-care.

  9. 1:30 – 6:30 PM
    Day-care (optional)

Hot lunch (if not had), nap, structured afternoon activity, snack, outdoor, free-play. Day-care add-on.

Little Steps app · iOS + Android

Stay connected, every step.

Little Steps is the only NCR pre-school where every parent gets a real-time daily feed of their child's day — photos, videos, teacher notes, snack consumed, nap minutes. Built quietly, used thoughtfully, no marketing of your child's images outside the app.

Photos + 30-second video snippets + a teacher caption — what your child did today, ate, napped through, and laughed about.
Live CCTV (auth-gated)
Each parent sees their own child's classroom feed only. Encrypted, retained 7 days, never shared with third parties.
Term-end progress book
Digital + printed. 5-domain narrative report. Includes 3 anchor photos per term and your child's signature scribble or drawing.
Health log + medication
Mark allergies, current meds, fever from yesterday — visible to all teachers. Daily nappy-change + hydration log for under-3.
Pickup + drop OTP
Anyone who is not on the regular list (grandparent, uncle, friend) needs a 6-digit OTP from you to collect your child.
Fee + receipt
Quarterly fee tranche via Razorpay. Auto-receipt for 80C deduction. No paper invoices.

Welcome kit · included in fee

Day one ready. No extra trips.

Every Little Steps admission ships with a complete welcome kit on Day One — branded backpack, steel lunch box, water bottle, lanyard ID, atelier kit, hardbound diary, and PT uniform. No separate trip to a uniform shop. No surprises.

The kit is restocked at term mid-point — crayons, marker refills, and any damaged item — at no extra cost. Your child outgrows the bag size? We swap it. We treat the welcome kit as part of the experience, not a one-time issue.

Backpack + lunch box + bottle
Branded canvas bag with name + class. Insulated steel lunch box (compartments for sabzi + roti + raita).
ID card + PT uniform
Lanyard ID card (laminated) + Friday PT uniform (track suit). Both restock free of cost on damage.

Visit before you decide. Always.

We do not believe in pre-school sales-funnels. Our admission flow is built around a real classroom visit, an unhurried sit-in trial, and a 3-week staggered settling-in. We do not interview 3-year-olds. We do not "screen" children. We accept every child whose family is aligned with our quiet, play-based, one-step-at-a-time approach.

01
Book a visit

WhatsApp us your child's age + nearest branch. We schedule a 60-min walk-through during a working morning so you see real classroom life — not a sales-rehearsed tour.

02
Sit-in trial day

You stay with your child for one full morning at no charge. We do not "interview" 3-year-olds — we observe how the classroom feels to your family.

03
Application + medical

A 1-page family form, immunisation record, two photos, and a paediatrician's clearance. No income proof. No competitive admission test.

04
Settling-in week

A staggered start — Week 1 with parent for 90-min, Week 2 alone for 90-min, Week 3 onwards full programme. Crying-on-arrival is normal and we walk through it patiently.

“Mere bete Aarav ko hum 2 saal ki age mein Little Steps mein laaye the — bahut shy bachcha tha, kisi se baat nahi karta. Settling-in week mein Anjali ji ne khud uske saath circle-time mein baith ke uski entry ki. Aaj 4 saal ka hai, Senior KG mein hai — confident, talkative, dost banata hai. Yahi vajah hai ki second baby Aanya ko bhi yahin admit kiya.”

“I was nervous about screen-time policies and "academic pressure" because we are an NRI family back from London. Anjali walked me through the school for 90 minutes — no ipads in classrooms, no homework before Senior KG, no ranking, no annual day with a competitive dance-off. The Reggio-Emilia atelier alone made me sign on. My daughter Mira is in her 14th month here and I see her drawing observational still-lifes in charcoal.”

“सब schools brochures मीटिंग में चमकदार दिखाते हैं — Little Steps में real classroom में बैठ के देखा। 14 बच्चे, 2 teachers, खिलौने सही जगह पर थे, बच्चे शांत थे — कोई "performance" नहीं था. यह वही pre-school है जिसकी मैं तलाश कर रहा था. हमारा बेटा यहाँ का "फूल" है — रोज़ ख़ुश हो के घर आता है।”

“I am a paediatrician at Apollo Noida, so I have visited probably 30 NCR pre-schools as a parent + a doctor. Little Steps is the only one I would let my own child attend (and Aarav is in Pre-KG with them). The hygiene, ratio, food, settling-in, and CCTV policy is the cleanest I have seen — and Anjali still personally takes Wednesday Pre-KG circle-time. That is a decisive signal.”

“My twins (Kaira + Vihaan, 3.5 years) joined the Indirapuram branch last June. They are very different children — Kaira is verbal-musical, Vihaan is physical-spatial. Their primary teachers wrote different progress reports for them, with different observations and different "nudge for next term" suggestions. That kind of personalised attention to twins-as-individuals is rare. We are at month 11.”

FAQs · 10 most asked

The questions every parent asks.

01. My child is not toilet-trained yet — can they still join? +

Yes. Toilet-training is part of what we work on through Nursery (age 2–3). We have a clean bathroom routine, two ayahs per classroom for under-3, and we sync notes daily with parents on what is working at home. There is no pressure or shame about accidents at any point.

02. How safe is the campus? Do you have CCTV? +

Every classroom and corridor has CCTV. Each parent gets a private feed of their child's classroom only via the Little Steps app — auth-gated, encrypted, retained 7 days. Background checks on teachers, ayahs, security, and drivers. Pickup is OTP-protected for anyone not on your regular collection list. The campus has no rooftop access, no ground-floor pool, no kitchen open to children.

03. Are meals pure-veg? My child has allergies. +

All snacks and lunches are 100% pure-veg, prepared fresh on-campus by trained cooks. We follow a 10-day rotated menu (sabzi-roti, dal-rice, idli-sambhar, poha, upma, khichdi, paratha, etc.). Allergen tags (nuts, dairy, gluten) are visible on every meal. Children with allergies can carry tiffin from home.

04. Do you teach Hindi? Or is it English-medium? +

Both, intentionally. Daily circle-time is bilingual — English first half, Hindi second half. Phonics is taught in English (Jolly Phonics), and Hindi varnamala is introduced in Pre-KG. Stories are drawn from Panchatantra + Hitopadesha alongside Eric Carle and Julia Donaldson. By Senior KG, children are comfortable in both.

05. What is the fee structure? Are there hidden costs? +

Annual fee is billed in 3 quarterly tranches. Welcome kit, uniform, lunch, snacks, and atelier supplies are included. The only optional add-ons are Day-care (₹3,800/month) and Summer Camp (₹14,800 for 4 weeks). Sibling discount of 15% on the second child. No registration fee. No "donation". No "building fund". 80C-eligible receipts via the app.

06. How is my child's progress measured? +

A 5-domain narrative report (gross motor, fine motor, language, cognitive, social-emotional) at the end of every term — written by your child's primary teacher, not template-filled. Plus a one-on-one parent meeting with photos and anchor work samples. We do not rank or score children. We never compare children to each other. There are no "best student" awards.

07. Is there a school bus or pickup service? +

Yes for the Greater Noida + Indirapuram branches — 4 routes covering Sec 50, Noida Extension, Vaishali, Indirapuram. Bus is GPS-tracked + has a CCTV-monitored ayah on board. Sec 50 Noida is walk-in only because most parents are within 1 km. Bus fee is ₹1,400/month per route.

08. What happens after Senior KG? Is there a Class 1? +

No. We are a dedicated pre-school (18 m – 5 yr). After Senior KG, children move to a primary school. We hold an annual "transition fair" in Feb where 6–8 partner schools (DPS, Heritage, Pathways, Genesis, Sarvodaya) hold info-sessions for our parents. Anjali writes a personal teacher-recommendation letter for every Senior KG graduate.

09. Are festivals celebrated? Which ones? +

Yes — Diwali, Holi, Makar Sankranti, Navratri, Raksha Bandhan, Children's Day, Independence + Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti, and a quiet Christmas tree morning. We are a secular, all-faith pre-school — every festival is celebrated as a story + food + craft, never with religious instruction.

10. Can I meet Anjali before deciding? +

Yes — Anjali holds a 30-minute parent open-house every second Saturday of the month (no kids), 11 AM – 12:30 PM, rotating across all 3 branches. Or she meets new families one-on-one during the school visit. WhatsApp the campus to confirm her schedule for the week.
